About
About Dr Melissa So
and her small friends Butters, Jelly and Kona
I have loved animals all my life. I grew up with five older sisters and I was always the one that brought home stray or injured animals.
Nowadays my husband, Tristan, and I share our home with a Greyhound called Kona and two guinea pigs, Butters and Jelly. Butters (red and white) and Jelly (agouti) were adopted from the RSPCA in 2018. Their favourite foods are parsley, dandelion and milk thistle. Kona was adopted in 2016 from a rescue group. She was a very timid dog when she first arrived at her forever home with us. We have worked with her to help build her confidence. Every day she gets better and is not so scared of the world.
I have been at Small Friends since 2011 and enjoy keeping your furry family members happy and healthy. I love being a veterinarian, as every day is different, and you never know what is going to turn up at work. I have a particular interest in pocket pets (that is guinea pigs, rabbits and rodents) and in small animal soft tissue surgery. When I am not working, my other interests include bushwalking, baseball, Eurovision and cooking.
I love being part of the Canberra community and cannot imagine working or living anywhere else.
