How did your owner decide they wanted a small friend and that you would be the right small friend for them?
Alex and Ian decided they wanted one or two dogs so that they could enjoy coming home to a happy face (or two) after work, and to have some unconditional friends to share the weekends with.
Where did your owner find you?
We had to be re-homed because our previous owners had to move back in with the grand parents and we couldn’t come along. We were always treated well and it was sad to leave our old family behind, but we are also very happy with our new home and glad we have such a loving family.
How did your owner choose your name?
Our names are a bit of a mystery, but at 6 and 7 years old we were already used to them when we met our new family so Sticks and Mingus are just fine. Also ‘good boy’, ‘good pooch’ and ‘where’s the ball’ are also among the names we are called. 🙂
What do you enjoy doing?
We enjoy walking, running, chasing a ball or anything that can be thrown. We don’t run as much as we used to but we still get a walk every morning at 6am and every evening when our owners come home. Sometimes they look a bit tired but we don’t mind. We enjoy meeting other doggy BFFs when we are out walking.
Do you have a favourite treat, spot or toy?
Our favourite toy is whatever the other one has. No matter how many tennis balls you collect, there is always room for one more – sometimes even if people are already playing tennis with it but our owners always give these back right away for some reason. Any toy that squeaks is irresistible and we quickly forget about whatever we are doing when we hear one.
What do you think makes you so special to your owner?
We are special to our owners because no matter how good or bad their day was, no matter if they are rich or poor, no matter if they have a bad hair cut and are wearing daggy clothes, we will always have our happy faces at the door when they come home. We are special because we love them and they love us – not because of what we can gain from each other, but for the joy we can share with each other.
Are there any funny or interesting stories about you that you can share with us?
There are some funny stories but many of them are the subject of ongoing investigation and I don’t want to foreshadow the outcome of the proceedings.
We are especially grateful to know all our friends at ‘Small Friends’ and for the treats and pats, and for looking after us for the past three years. We are looking forward to many more years to come and to being part of the lives of all the people and other animals we care about.
