About
Tara
and her many small friends
I was born in Canberra and moved to Murrumbatemen when I was 5 years old. Once settled in our new house I got my first pet, from the RSPCA, a cat Midnight. A few years later I was lucky enough to get a horse named Cherry. Fast forward to today and Midnight is 18 years old and living with me and my partner Matt on our farm in Yass.
Since moving to our farm Matt and I have dramatically added to our family. We own five dogs – Tigga, Duke, Nala, Bear and Teddi, we have rescued two other cats from the RSPCA whom we named Oreo and Melvin, we adopted a love bird from one of our wonderful clients, and named him Mango, and then we rescued another love bird from the RSPCA, whom we named Banana. We have 30 sheep and 13 chicken AND I also adopted a dove that came into Small Friends after it had been stuck in a car’s front grill and sustained some wing problems – we named him Doven.
So as you have probably figured out, I love animals and have wanted to work with and help animals since I was a little girl. Each morning I wake up and look forward to coming to work at Small Friends Vet because it is a great place to learn and expand my knowledge and I work with a great group of people who all get along and share similar interests. All the nurses rotate duties each day and I really enjoy treating and helping our ‘old’ small friends when I am on surgery or inpatient duties, and meeting new small friends when I am on reception.
When I am not at work I love to do some online shopping, watch Netflix and play with all our animals. We also try to visit Matt’s parent’s home down the coast often with the dogs as we all love visiting the beach.
