We have a fully equipped in-house laboratory. Our microscope, refractometer, urine chemistry analysers, haematology, and biochemistry machines allow us to perform blood and urine tests while you and your small friend are here for your consultation. This means we can provide on-the-spot results, dramatically reducing the time between identifying a health issue and starting treatment, which supports the fastest possible recovery for your small friend.

  • Specialised Testing

If specialised testing is required, our courier collects samples twice daily and sends them to an external laboratory. Results are returned to Small Friends Veterinary Hospital as soon as they are available, and our staff will phone you immediately to discuss the findings.

  • Pre-Anaesthetic Blood Testing

All small friends scheduled for anaesthesia are offered a pre-anaesthetic blood test. This simple but essential test can be performed while your small friend is comfortably resting in their bed before surgery, helping ensure the safest possible anaesthetic experience.
